First IMAC Martial Arts Awards Night

Dear IMAC Instructor/Coach

On behalf of the IMAC Executive committee and its various advisory boards, We are delighted to announce the upcoming inaugural, IMAC Martial Arts Awards Night, which is being held on the 24th January, 2026 in the SPA Hotel Lucan, Co Dublin.

This is very special celebration of the achievements, dedication, and spirit of the entire Irish martial arts community in Ireland.  This is the first time, IMAC will host this event and celebrate our collective and individual accomplishments.  This event will bring together national federations, organisations, athletes, volunteers, officials, and supporters to collectively recognise the individuals and clubs, who inspire and drive our Sports and Martial Art's forward.

We sincerely hope you can all get behind this positive activity for our members and organisations.   The following is the appropriate details.  

Event Framework

  • Event Start 6.30pm

  • Dress to impress (SMART Casual)

  • Sit down, waiter service, three course meal

  • Tables of ten

  • Professional MC

  • DJ (so after awards you can dance the night away)

  • Awards Presentation and Certification for winners 

  • Limited Tickets go on sale 1st January   

  • Hotel room booking at The Lucan Spa Hotel - Guest Reservations

  • Room Capacity 160 people ( 16 tables) 

Nomination and Awards Framework

  • Nominations must be submitted on or before the 7th December  Click this link to google docs and fill in  Nomination Form: IMAC Volunteer & Athlete Awards

    • Any incomplete nominations will be discounted from the process

  • All nominees must be a member of a fully compliant IMAC CLub/Orginisation

  • All nominees need to confirm their availability on the 24th of January to attend the awards night

  • All Nominees must include one photograph of themselves to be used on the 3 finalists’ announcement

  • Three finalists will be proposed by the IMAC Awards working group In December and the nominators informed.

  • Winner will be decided and informed by the Awards working group at the end of December.

Tickets

    • Each winner will receive 2 complimentary tickets

    • LIMITED tickets will go on sale 1st January 2025 ( On first come first serve basis )

    • The Tickets will be available through Eventbrite at a subsidised rate of €15.  ( link will be sent later on)

Black Belt Grading

The Black belt grading will take place on Sunday June 8th 2025 in two venues.

Venue 1: CBS National School, Ennis

Venue 2: Scoil Bhríde, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare R56 RK83

The Deadline for submitting applications is Sunday May 25th

A photo of each candidate must also be submitted on applying to sryan@taekwondo.ie. Save the photo as the name of the candidate so they can be easily identified. 

Please note that all fees must be transferred to the ITA account by the deadline of  May 25th using the candidates name as reference. It is not possible to pay on the day of the grading.

Only complete applications which include the online form, emailed photo & full fee paid by the deadline will be accepted. 

Instructors are asked to ensure your candidates meet all the grading requirements. Take note of the requirement of an ITF Plaque for all 3rd Dan and above, International Instructor certificate for all testing for 4th Dan and above (email sryan@taekwondo.ie for access to the online exam) and Do course / IIC requirements for those testing for 4th Degree or higher.

Power Breaking Seminar and Coaches Workshop

ITA is excited to bring you two World Champions in Power Test, Mr Wesley Filiki (2015, 2017, 2019) and Mr Brendan Doogan (2013). Whether you're an instructor or a student looking to prepare for your first competition or your black belt grading or perhaps hoping to follow in the footsteps of these champions, we have an incredible opportunity for you. 

Instructors - Coaching Workshop

As part of our expanding offering of Coach education and support this Continuous Professional Development opportunity is a standalone unit that any coach or interested person can undertake. It is also a micro credential earning credits towards the new Level 2 Senior Club Coach award being developed through IMAC and Sport Ireland. This will be open to all adult black belts who are currently coaching, assisting or helping to teach in an ITA club. 


Coaches will learn to enhance the performance of the 6 competition breaks through the use of developmental exercises, technical progression and regression and video analysis. They will be tasked with choosing the correct technical variation and progression for their athletes, basing their choices on; a deterministic model, the physical characteristics of their athletes and their stage of development. They will learn to identify and prioritise areas for improvement based on observation and analysis.

Students - Seminar
This is a wonderful chance to meet with fellow students and instructors with a passion for breaking boards. Learn from two dedicated aficionados of the art and get personalised tips and refinements to help improve your breaking skills. Physical preparation, the mental game, technique and application.…all covered.

The Irish Taekwon-Do Association in conjunction with the Irish Martial Arts Commission are delighted to announce a Coaching Workshop with Urša Terdin MSc focusing on the psychological aspects of training for Martial Arts and in particular for competition preparation and performance. 

A short series of two Webinars and one in person practical session are offered as a stand alone Coaching Continuous Professional Development opportunity. This workshop is a 6 credit micro credential which can be used in support of the IMAC Level 2 Coaching programme (in development).
