European Championships 2024 Selection Criteria
In the majority of cases the winner of black belt divisions at the national championships will be offered the first slot in that division.
Exceptions may occur, for example;
uncontested or merged divisions
divisions with 2 or less competitors (a slot may still be automatically offered based on the competitive level of athletes in the division)
when an ineligible competitor wins a division, e.g. from outside our ITF or from another country
where the competitor(s) are not at a standard appropriate for Continental championships
The 2nd slot will be a combination of coaches choice and fight offs/matches by invitation.
For special technique and power test competitors will also be invited to trial for selection based on their performance in those disciplines at national & international tournaments
There will be a weigh in available on the evening of Fri Nov 3rd of the national championships for those who wish to avail of it. There will be a 1kg weight allowance at the championships for all competitors.
Following selection athletes must complete the athlete/competitor agreement form which outlines expected standards for national team representatives
If weights are not managed well by selected athletes coaches will have the option of moving an athlete to another division if there is a slot available or de selecting
All competitors wishing to be considered for selection must complete the expression of Interest form prior to the National Championships
