Level 2 Senior Club Coach Award
Official launch of the IMAC Taekwon-Do Senior Club Coach Award (Level 2)!
As announced at our AGM in January, this program represents a huge leap forward, the culmination of many years of dedicated development and overcoming significant hurdles. We are now recruiting participants for our very first, highly anticipated cohort, and we believe you could be a vital part of it.
This isn't just another course; it's an invitation to redefine your coaching journey and leave an enduring impact on our sport. On behalf of the ITA's team of Coach Developers, I'm incredibly excited to invite you to review this ground-breaking program.
Here’s a summary of the most important information, with a more detailed Information Pack attached:
This Level 2 course is for experienced Taekwon-Do instructors looking to advance their coaching. It helps you guide national athletes, strengthen your club, or prepare students for Black Belt, using a hands-on and reflective approach.
The program runs for 12 months with about 50 hours of in-person and online sessions. You'll also need to coach at your club for at least 4 hours weekly and dedicate around 40 hours to self-directed assessment preparation.
Ideal applicants are Black Belt instructors with five years' coaching experience. You should be keen to learn, open to new ideas, and committed to developing athletes and the broader Taekwon-Do community.
Minimum entry requires current IMAC club membership , a Level 1 Coaching Certificate from IMAC and Sport Ireland , and at least three years of Level 1 coaching experience since certification. You'll also need Safeguarding 1 and a current Garda Vet or Access NI through IMAC.
Our teaching focuses on "learning by doing" and deep reflection, not just strict instructions. Key methods include work-based learning, mentoring, journaling, and group problem-solving, making it a course in coaching.
Assessments are continuous and practical, including a personal learning plan, a coaching portfolio, an athlete case study, professional discussions, and a final presentation. This holistic approach supports your growth as a high-level coach.
You'll attend five in-person days and 12 online webinars. Core modules cover topics like Season Planning, Skill Acquisition, Building a Coaching Team, and Notational and Video Analysis. You can also choose elective modules to customize your learning to your specific interests and needs.
The course costs €500, with instalment options available. Applications close August 17, 2025. Contact Master Adrian Byrne at abyrne@taekwondo.ie for an application pack. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
We genuinely believe this program will shape who you are becoming as a coach, equipping you with advanced skills and a supportive community. We eagerly await your application and the opportunity to embark on this significant journey with you.
